My History & Why The Doggy Day Care Was Founded

I am a NASDU 2  qualified dog handler and  trainer which is the same as the Police, MOD and Customs Officers.  I am a qualified Canine First Aider,  a  Human First Aid At Worker (with defib), I did a  course with the Assoc of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) in pet dog behaviour and training   I am a Member of the Animal Care College,  I have a current  DBS Check and I have a Security Industry Authority D/S licence.

I have 28 years of experience working with dogs in a variety of settings. I have done training with drugs, protection and obedience dogs through from puppy to adult. I am ex Royal Air Force and have also worked as a contract Dog Handler for private security protection companies and an A list celebrity. I spent 2 years being a home checker for the  Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso charity rescue.

Now I have decided it is time to slow down a little and run a small friendly home from home dog day care service.  I have also been very lucky to share my life over the years with many dogs of various breeds (some of which were rescue or foster dogs) including, cocker, field and springer spaniels, Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apso, Flat Coated Retriever, Labrador, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Herder and a Rottweiler.

Why Was Sawtry Doggy Day Care Founded?

Sawtry Doggie Day Care was founded out of a search for a doggy day care service that offered a home from home day care for my own dog with only a few dogs and not a large commercial operation with many dogs. I contacted HDC to see if there was a registered one in the village and there wasn’t. It then became evident that there was no service locally catering for weekends, bank holidays or convenient hours for shift workers, only for those who worked 9-5 Monday to Friday.

So Sawtry Doggy Day Care was founded out of my own need and I have decided to offer the service to others who may have faced the same situation.

There is only ever a maximum of 5 dogs here (including my own dog) at any one time. Only miniature, toy, small or medium sized dogs are accepted.

We are open 7 days a week and all Bank Holidays including Christmas and Easter. With notice we also offer a service to shift workers, please contact us for further information.
